Invasive Phragmites (Phragmites australis) Identification and Removal

In August 2024, we hosted two training events open to the community on the identification and removal of invasive phragmites (Phragmites australis). These sessions provided participants with the skills and knowledge to identify and tackle this aggressive invasive species, helping to protect the natural ecosystems of Haliburton County and beyond.

Below, you will find training videos designed to support citizen scientist initiatives in the fight against invasive phragmites. Whether you're new to the issue or looking to refine your skills, these resources will help guide your efforts in managing and removing this species effectively.

A huge thank you to Lynn Short from Humber College for leading our training events and sharing her expertise.

To report invasive phragmites sightings, please use EDDMapS, a crucial tool for tracking and managing invasive species in our region.
